Hypnosis for Weight Loss

weighloss jpg

Many people have and do utilize Hypnotherapy / Hypnosis  for weight loss achievement.  While this can be very effective, it’s not as cut and dried as walking into see your hypnotherapist overweight and leaving 10lbs down.

There are many factors that are taken into consideration when working on satisfying a weight loss goal.

The way hypnosis works for weight loss is by programming the mind to engage in new and improved habits and activities that in effect will result in achieving the desired goal.

Because the mind is so incredibly powerful … and even more so while in a deep state of focused relaxation, it becomes much easier to accept powerful positive suggestions that directly target the subconscious mind.

In addition to ‘thinking’ or focusing on the necessary changes, hypnosis can help you ‘feel’ them as well… causing  your mind and emotions buy into new ideas wholeheartedly, causing the task to  be so much easier to feel & become more motivated, empowered and determined to make the changes you require.

Because, generally speaking (obviously with some exceptions) the main reason most people have a challenge losing weight,  boils down to ‘will power’ or forming dedicated habits to stick to healthy eating and fitness routines.

What often happens is we become ‘weakened’ and come up with excuses why we can ‘put off’ our diets “for today” or postpone or skip our exercise till ‘tomorrow’… until we find we’ve eventually  tossed our goal out of the window all together!

Some of the positive suggestions offered during hypnosis may relate to focusing and on and even enjoying healthier food choices, feeling more energized, motivated and even ‘excited” to exercise with enhanced determination.

In addition, suggestions may be given post hypnotically to help you avoid partaking in excess carbohydrates or fatty unhealthy foods.  A post hypnotic suggestion might simply have you feel a strong resistance to opening a bag of potato chips once you pick up the bag… or cause you to feel turned off the moment you touch the freezer door to grab the bucket of ice cream…. and perhaps have an insatiable craving for a carrot or apple instead.

A hypnotherapist might suggest you begin to crave additional fruits and vegetables more often, and perhaps assist you to start a new habit such as eating breakfast each day for those who have trained themselves to skip it in the past.

There are many ways hypnosis can aid in weight loss achievements by  mentally improving your determination… and though it’s not ‘magic’ and certainly does not work for everyone (because what does?)… by adopting a reasonable expectation of success, it can (and does) in many instances make the journey easier, more appealing and far less daunting.

Sleep Better – Hypnosis to Treat Insomnia

sleep

Recently I have I’ve found more and more people turn to hypnosis to treat insomnia at an almost alarming rate!  (S’cuse the terminology… Perhaps the word “alarm” is a little out of place on this topic) .. 😉

Joking aside, the truth is…  there are a ridiculous number of sleep deprived people among us; so exhausted they barely function… each and every day.  It’s almost scary really, particularly when you consider many of these sleep deprived individuals perform tasks such as.. driving and  operating heavy machinery… etc…

Sleep deprivation really sucks!!  Not only in general… but it sucks the life out of just about everything who battles the issue and definitely steals the joy.  The worst part is…insomnia is so difficult to overcome… and in many cases its really all because the brain has trained itself to start thinking, rehashing and dissecting everything under the sun the minute you get into bed…. particularly the stressful, worrisome topics… causing the inner cogs to spin at warp speed….

What’s even  worse is the fact that the more your brain spins, the more you look at the clock… and when you look at the clock, you worry more because you know how brutal you’re going to feel the next day… and that makes you worry further still. 🙁

Then….  as the clock ticks, you then tend become anxious about the fact you might actually fall asleep … and all of a sudden… there’s a complete reversal in the thought process as you then  strive to stay awake in case you don’t hear the alarm and sleep in.

This cycle gets worse and worse and as time goes on, becomes more frequent.  After a while, many people simply label themselves an ‘insomniac’ and succumb to the fact they just can’t sleep.  (and perhaps never will… with ease anyway).

So how does one utilize hypnosis to treat insomnia? (You ask)

Well the way Hypnosis/hypnotherapy works by retraining your brain to shut the heck up at the times you need to be ready for slumber.

During a hypnosis/hypnotherapy session, you will be taught relaxation techniques to help you  naturally wind down. When I work with people suffering from insomnia, I personally find it very effective to imbed post hypnotic suggestions in addition to other techniques… to cause you to perform a certain action or movement resulting in a feeling of calm and relaxation to assist you to drift off into a restful slumber.

After a while, the subconscious mind will begin to associate your bed time routine with sawing logs ZZzzzz ZZzzzz allowing you to get the much deserved (and needed) shut eye to keep you bright and perky during the day instead of the other way around.

I have actually had people tell me that Hypnotherapy has allowed them to get the sleep they haven’t had in years… so the results have been pretty amazing.

(urrgghh… can you imagine not sleeping in years??)

If the answer is ‘yes’ and you are one of the unfortunate individuals afflicted with insomnia… contact me at any time… and lets get you tucked in!

I also work with online clients… so feel free to contact me either my telephone or the ‘contact me’ tab on this site.

Night-Night, God Bless… and don’t let the bed bugs bite! 🙂

Breaking Bad Habits With Hypnosis

Bad Habits!… we all have ’em… some worse than others thank goodness… but they are still there nevertheless.  Some habits  are just an irritation, others cause us pain, stress or frustration… but some can be quite severe and even harm us… or impair the relationships we have with others.

So why do we continue?

The answer is simply because these habits or habitual thoughts/actions have become automatic… sometimes over a lifetime of heavy duty repetition.  The fact is ‘habits’ become so locked within our subconscious mind that we usually don’t even think about them while we do them… until we shriek at ourselves and say (or think) “ohhh grrr… look I’m doing it again”…

What’s even more frustrating about bad habits is the fact that sheer will power usually doesn’t work to break them.  lets face it, if will power worked all the time… we’d have a much easier time getting over things and I would not be writing this post.. and you’d be doing something more enjoyable as well.

This being the case, I’ll cut to the chase and answer the very common question:  Is breaking bad habits with hypnosis even possible?

Well… the short answer is … absolutely!  in fact, this is where hypnosis / hypnotherapy comes in very useful and can make breaking these bad habits so much easier and incredibly effective.

You see, as I’ve explained in other areas of this site, habits, thoughts, feelings about things in general have all been thoroughly rehearsed  by us and in essence they become a part of  the way we operate.  That’s because we have become so good at ‘said habit’ that we have caused it to become a permanent part of our subconscious …

The way hypnosis works is by, over a little time, we ‘erase’ or re-program… or reformat  our unconscious, automatic patterns by going directly to the area that needs the positive enforcement.

Because hypnosis puts our minds in a state of ease, relaxation and focus… this causes the ‘conscious’ awakened mind to be completely removed so we can speak directly to our hidden inner programming.

By offering positive, beneficial suggestions directly to the subconscious with the pesky conscious being removed from the equation, directly access  the source of our automatic behaviours

Whilst, I will admit wholeheartedly, there are many people who are on the fence as to the effectiveness of hypnotherapy/hypnosis… it is my firm belief that it’s only because most people lack knowledge.

During the last couple of years (and even years prior) I have seen some amazing transformations and successes because so many people have had  reasonable expectations of achieving a positive result.  These results have occurred strictly due to the inner power of not only the individuals’  deep desires but also because they were open to exercising the power of the mind.

If you are battling a bad habit of any sort… particularly if it is causing your stress, remorse, grief, guilt… or basically robbing your of your peace in any way, giving hypnotherapy an honest consideration just might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
